This series was inspired by the women who rose up to fight for injustices following a military backed coup in Maldives. They were bold and fearless, and kept showing up to protests, despite verbal and physical abuse or the threat of incarceration.


Slaaheesfas Dhuvas, 2017 (45 days). The number of days protestors can be held by police without charge. Geyga Oiy Nama, 2017 (You should’ve have stayed at home). A statement projected at protestors who often received injuries due to blows or pepper spray by the police, implying that one would avoid injury if they stayed quiet.
